How to Root & Unroot Samsung Galaxy Y Duos GT-S6102 ?

Pre-requisite for Rooting
  • Backup your data before rooting to reduce any data loss.
  • Make sure the phone is plug-in charging.
  • Download Update.zip for rooting.
Procedure to Root Samsung Galaxy Y Duos
Step 1)  I pre-assume that you have made the backup of your system. Now Download the the file Update.zip from the above link. Make sure you have external storage attached (eg. SD card) to the phone. Copy the downloaded file
to the SD card, it should not be copied to any of the folder.

Step 2) Switch off your phone and then again restart it in the recovery mode using the followinng key combination.
Volume Up + Home button + Power Button
Press this combination until the Duos logo appears on the screen. Now you are in recovery mode where the touchscreen will not work and the interface would be turned to Blue color, no need to panic. In recovery mode only the physical controls will work. Use Volume Up & Down keys to navigate , Home Screen to make selection and Power button to revert back.

Step 3)  Now, select the option “Apply Update from SD card ” and choose the file “update.zip” present in . Now that we are almost done, Reboot your system using the option “Reboot system now“.
Step 4) After, you have restarted your phone, if you see “Superuser” app in the menu section, your phone has been successfully rooted.  Kudos..!!!!!! for your achievement.
If you find some day that you are not comfortable with your rooted phone then the below section will guide you on “How to Unroot your rooted Galaxy Duos
You will need :
Procedure To Unroot Samsung Galaxy Y Duos
Step 1)  Download the file Unroot.zip from the above link. Remember, both the files (update.zip and unroot.zip) are interlinked, so if you have rooted using “update.zip” it becomes mandatory that you unroot with “unroot.zip” only. Copy the downloaded file to the SD card, it should not be copied to any of the folders.

Step 2) Switch off your phone and then again restart it in the recovery mode using the followinng key combination.
